West Coast Players strives to provide our audiences with quality productions of works they may not see elsewhere. We also seek to provide actors, directors, playwrights and technical crew the chance to deepen their craft and grow artistically by being part of productions on the cutting edge. To meet these goals, theatres often mount a Staged Reading; a performance of a theatrical piece where actors read from scripts, usually performing minimal stage movement without props or costumes. The focus of a Staged Reading is on the script itself and as such can be used to provide feedback to a playwright or director on what aspects of the story may or may not work.
To this end, the WCP Staged Reading Project seeks to:
- Provide a vehicle for playwrights to workshop new and original pieces
- Bring unique works to the stage that might not be mounted as a main stage production
- Provide new directors a chance to hone their craft
- Introduce audiences to different types of works and test the feasibility of mounting them as a main stage production

Admission to all staged readings will be general admission and donations will be accepted at the door the evening of the performance with a suggested minimum donation of $5.
